Channel 4’s ‘Educating Yorkshire’ Promo by 4Creative & Blink Productions
At a time when portrayals of teenagers on screen often skew negative, Channel 4 set out to celebrate the energy, creativity and chaos of real young people. This campaign promoting the return of the show ‘Educating Yorkshire,’ a documentary series about a high school in Yorkshire, reminded people how wonderful and electrifying teenagers are to be around by embracing the unvarnished chaos of youth and getting the pupils to help make the advertising.
The production became a mini school syllabus with a series of workshops for acting, writing, choreography, and music that taught pupils the skills they needed and opened their eyes to the film, advertising and production industry.
Shot in the same school as the show and starring kids from the school who had no previous acting experience, the film puts students front and centre as they think up and pull off an amazing one-shot promo in front of the audience’s eyes that showcases their unique skills, humour and talents.
“The end result is everything we hoped for, full of joy, honesty and a bit of beautiful chaos”
David Wigglesworth, Executive Creative Director, 4Creative
